Links, screenshots with timestamps, proof of your identity and, where relevant, proof you never consented. Reports fail on missing evidence far more often than on wrong policy, so this step is done properly before anything is filed.
The right channel, per item
A fake profile goes through impersonation reporting with ID. A nonconsensual video goes through privacy or intimate-image channels, which Meta treats with priority. A stolen photo goes through IP. Filing everything through one generic report button is why self-filed attempts stall.
Escalation and tracking
Wrongly rejected reports get resubmitted with strengthened evidence, and repeat offenders get escalated toward account-level enforcement. You get a status you can actually follow, item by item.

Content that clearly violates policy, fake profiles, nonconsensual videos, scam ads with your face, comes down reliably on accepted cases, and intimate-image abuse in particular is treated with priority by Meta's dedicated channels. What we cannot remove, and will not pretend to: news coverage, public-interest reporting and honest criticism. Frequently asked questions
How long does removal take?
Priority categories such as intimate-image abuse and impersonation with ID often resolve within days. Ordinary privacy and harassment reports commonly take one to three weeks including escalations. We give a realistic estimate per item in the free review.
Will the person who posted it know I reported them?
Meta does not tell them who reported. They will see the content was removed for a policy violation. For safety-sensitive situations we plan the filing order so nothing signals you before the takedown lands.
Can you remove a news article or a post that criticizes me?
No. Journalism and honest opinion are not policy violations, and services promising to erase them are selling something that does not exist or methods that will backfire on you. We remove violations: impersonation, nonconsensual content, harassment, stolen material.
Someone is threatening to leak private images of me. Can you act before they post?
Yes. Meta participates in preventive matching programs for intimate images, and threats themselves are reportable extortion. This situation has well-established official routes, and moving early matters. Contact us and we will move the same day.
